So, as mentioned befoe, my sister has challenged me to a 30 day squat challenge. My stepsister in The Netherlands has joined in on the challenge.
I'm on day two and wow! Everything from my waist to my shins is sore and getting up from my chair (or even just sitting down) is testing my pain threshold. Day one we did 50 squats (easy peasy!) and today we added another 5 to get to 55. I didn't feel too bad this morning, but as the day has progressed, I'm finding more and more reasons to stay seated in front of my computer. Lunch? Who needs lunch?
However, my pain may be from more than just my never-ending competitive streak with my younger sibling. I also had the urge to go running yesterday after a month's break due to cold weather, late work nights and my own laziness. Last time I ran I was pulling off 8km. So, being the nana I am, decided that I could happily do another 8 after not venturing on the roads for four weeks. Silly me!
I got to 7,5km and realised that my hips were screaming at me and not from the cold! The problem is that when I found how easily 6km were, I now think of it as piddly so it really doesn't seem worth it. And 7 is a weird number so there's no stopping there. But yes, 7,5 was my limit and saw me crawling up the hill home at 6pm last night. I almost asked the guard at my complex if he wouldn't mind piggybacking me the last 400m home. Not sure it would've gone down too well...
So my winter fitness regime is heaps better than it's been in past years! Even if I'm now stuck at my desk at work for two days because I can't walk to my car... anyone care to carry me?
